New Acropolis Museum

The new acropolis museum inaugurated in June 2009 stands proudly at 300m away from the Parthenon, at the old district of Athens called Makriyanni.

Project
The construction of the museum might have been a great adventure but the most challenging task was to transfer the priceless items from the old to the new museum. After much preparation, calculations and tests the removal of the century took place on October 2007.

Exhibits
The exhibits are, among others, findings of the archaeologists from the slopes of the Acropolis as well as parts of the metopes and pediments of the temple of Parthenon. The visitor can also admire the Archaic Gallery with the Hekatompedon, the ancient temple, the Votives

Ticket: 5 euros , discounted 3 euros

Tuesday to Sunday 08.00 a.m to 08.00 p.m
Last entrance at 07.30 p.m
