If we would describe Plaka in one sentence it would be a charming village in the heart of the city of Athens. Actually plaka is the district of old Athens. Nowadays Plaka has become a cool neighborhood to stay and is consisted of beautiful houses, traditional taverns, cafes with special character and of course remains and monuments from the archaic, roman and Byzantine era.

Places and Monuments
Plaka nowadays is one of the most visited sightseeing points in Athens. The visitor will discover through its narrow roads and paths small churches, a Muslim temple, an old hamam as well as the building of the first university of Greece. The roman agora [market] makes also part of this lovely neighborhood.
